2025 Junior Youth Achievement Finalists

District 1 Finalists:

Tenley Chittenden

Tenley Jane Chittenden is a Brown Swiss youth member from Shoreham, Vermont. Her family operates Richville Farms, and their Brown Swiss prefix is Perry Brook. Recently, she is most proud of raising Crazy Horse and Elan, the number one and two PPR bulls, and the number one PPR heifer, Lulu. Their dairy has over 800 Holsteins and 120 Brown Swiss. Tenley is very involved on her farm, especially in taking care of heifers. She has a group of 40 heifers that include flush donors that she feeds and cares for before and after school. She has started her own herd through a purchase into the W family at the Eastern Breeders Sale. She is an active 4-H member competing in the youth shows and quiz bowl contests. She attended the National convention in New England and the 2022 World Conference in Madison. She has gotten really good at taking genomic samples on calves and is an important part of the farms testing program. Outside of her cow interests, Tenley is the goalie for the Brandon Rec soccer team and has recently taken up Lacrosse. She likes to
volunteer and helped to pass out a tractor trailer load of milk donated by her farm and DFA to local families during the pandemic.

Emmett Smithling

Hello, my name is Emmett Smithling, I am 14 years old and live in Stanley, NY. My family owns Blue Heaven Farm, consisting of roughly 55 head of registered Brown Swiss. I personally own 8 Brown Swiss (6 bred and owned) and have a passion for showing them at the county, state, and national level. I have been showing Brown Swiss since I was 6 years old with my first Swiss, “Pickles”. I am a freshman at Marcus Whitman High School where I am actively involved in my school’s FFA chapter, cross country, and track teams. I enjoy participating in dairy judging with both my FFA chapter and county 4-H team, 4-H dairy bowl, 4-H dairy challenge, and FFA milk quality. I also am the New York Brown Swiss Junior Board Vice President and attend monthly zoom meetings to help plan fundraisers and fun activities for youth members to do throughout the year.

District 2 Finalist

Trey Daubert

My name is Trey Daubert, and I’m from Dayton, Virginia. I am the 14-year-old son of Jeremy and Becky Daubert. I am going to be a freshman at Turner Ashby High School this fall, and I am a member of the Maryland Brown Swiss Association. I live on the outskirts of Dayton, Virginia, on our small family farm STOX Dairy. On our little “hobby” farm, we currently milk 3 cows into a portable milker. We also have about 25 heifers on our 8 acres of pasture and a few dairy steers for our local county fair. We also house a couple bred heifers at a heifer-rearing operation just a few miles away. I currently own 12 head: 10 heifers and 2 cows. Out of my 12 head, 9 of them are Brown Swiss and 3 of them are Holsteins.

District 5 Finalist

Evelyn Wyse

My name is Evelyn Wyse, and I am a 14-year-old eighth-grader at Mount Horeb Middle School. I live with my parents, Wade and Natalie, and my two brothers on our farm outside of Blanchardville, Wisconsin, where we raise Simmental and Angus Beef along with crops. My interest in showing Brown Swiss dairy cattle started with my first 4-H dairy project when I was 9 years old and has continued to grow ever since.
I now own 1 cow, 5 heifers, and 2 leased heifers. I have shown my animals at the local and state levels, along with World Dairy Expo.
I belong to the Up & Over 4-H Club of Iowa County, where I have served as President. I will join FFA upon entering high school this coming fall. I belong to the State and National Brown Swiss Associations, where I will continue to become more involved in opportunities for Junior members.
I plan on a career in the agriculture industry. At this time, I would like to attend the University of Wisconsin or Iowa State University majoring in Animal Science. Away from the farm I like to take pictures at sporting events and run the scoreboard at basketball games. My extracurricular school activities include Band, Choir, Track and Field, Cross County, Gymnastics, and Student Mentoring. I am also a member of my church youth group where I take part in community service.
