2023 Board Action

Winter Board Motions

  • Motion to approve the rules and regulations for Registration and Transfer updates. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to increase the Brown Swiss Bulletin and Sire Summaries to the following rates.  Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to add Sarah Lehner and the entire list of committee-approved judges to the judges list. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to accept the changes to the show rules for bred and owned animals. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to send the letter out to the Northeast National that they are not meeting requirements for cattle numbers. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to accept that a show with over 100 head in both year 1 and year 2, be considered the second year for a qualifying show. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to change the monetary award for the Production & Cheese Yield awards for the national winners to $200 and district winners to $50 and they cannot receive both monetary awards. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to accept the changes to the alternate leadsperson form as the committee proposed. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
  • Motion to accept Canadian-resident youth to be able to be a junior member and participate in junior shows and the national junior Bell Ringer contest. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.

The only fee adjustment was to The Brown Swiss Bulletin subscription rates. They were adjusted to mirror increased postage costs.
 

Summer Board Motions

  • MOTION to change the classification rule that permanent cows will be eligible for permanent score at their 3rd lactation. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
    Prior rule, Cows become permanent on the first score after their fifth birthday. The Type committee suggested the change due to the number of cows calving at less than 2 years old.
  • MOTION to only list genomic tested animals on any of our published genetic evaluation reports. Motion 2nd. One opposed. Motion passed.
    This is a subject that has been discussed both for and against for some time.
    Example: Full sisters will all have the same Parent Average (PA) for all traits. When genomic tested the same heifers will have different results.
    This will apply to all lists for cows and heifers based on current criteria.
  • MOTION to use ET suffix for all embryo calves regardless of IVF or conventional embryo collection. Motion 2nd. Motion passed.
