My name is Blake Hill and I am from Cattaraugus, New York. I am 13 years old and the son of Darin and Katie Hill of Hills Valley Farm. I bought my first Brown Swiss animal in 2020. I currently own four Brown Swiss of my own, am in partnership with four more Brown Swiss, own four Red and White Holsteins and one black and white Holstein.
I started showing for my family when I was seven years old at the county fairs. They let me lead my first animal at the Eastern National in 2019 in the open show. Since then, I have improved my showmanship abilities and have made many memories leading great heifers and cows that stand at the top of their classes at local, state and National shows. In ‘20 and ’21, my heifer, Hills Valley AB Frozen, was State Bell Ringer winner. In ’22, a heifer that I leased, Hills Valley Powerball Whopper, was named Winter Heifer State and National Bell Ringer. In ‘23, one of my partnership cows, Jenlar FC WindMill ETV, was Reserve National Bell Ringer and Nominated All American Summer Junior Two-Year-Old.
My involvement in the dairy industry is being on a dairy bowl team, member of the Cattaraugus Junior 4-H Dairy Judging Team, a member of my local 4-H club, and a member of my local FFA Chapter. I have competed in showmanship classes for the past five years. I am an active State Brown Swiss Member. On the farm, I work with heifers before the shows to get them to lead and watch their diet, help milk, feed calves, and other daily chores. My future goals are to grow my herd of Registered Brown Swiss and Red and White Holsteins. In my spare time, I like to play baseball, basketball, and hang out with friends.
