All donor dams must be parentage verified before embryo recovery sheets or resulting offspring can be registered. When a cow is flushed, a genomics hair, tissue, or blood sample should be sent to GENESEEK for parentage verification. Kits can be ordered through the Brown Swiss Association at a cost of $45 each. If planning export of embryos, a DNA test will also be needed. Contact Allicia Horn by e-mail at ahorn@brownswissusa.com or phone 608-365-4474 ext 22. If wanting additional genomic testing contact Neogen directly at dairygenomics@neogen.com.
All males are required to be parentage tested via genomic testing at the time of registration. Any bulls registered after June 1, 2020, must be parent verified in order to have offspring registered. The cost of the kit is included in the registration fee of $50. If you would like to receive a full genomic evaluation for your bull, e-mail ahorn@brownswissusa.com.
We encourage using full genomic testing to include Genetic conditions, milk proteins, and other management traits.
