2014  Board Action

Winter - December 2014

It was moved and seconded to accept the responsibilities of Progressive Sires.

It was moved and seconded to accept the additions to the judges list:  Nate Goldenberg, Charlotte Berner, Chris Lang, Randy Franck and Kevin Michalovich.

It was moved and seconded to add David Wallace to the International Judges list. 

It was moved and seconded to make the dry cow class a ribbon only class at all National Shows and re-distribute premium money equally to the Yearling in Milk and Component Merit Class.   

It was moved and seconded to give the Northwest and Western National Shows a year to combine for the 2016 show season.  If this does not happen they will be taken off the show list for 2016. 

It was moved and seconded to remove the words: un-retouched / no background change on the All-American application.

It was moved and seconded to accept the Junior Youth Achievement Award. 

Summer - July 2014

It was moved and seconded to allow joint ownership of animals between youth siblings of immediate family. The individual designated as showing the animal would be the individual eligible to receive junior awards/recognition throughout the show year such as Bell Ringer. The show person must be designated by June 1 of the show season. This change will be effective for the 2015 show season, beginning January 1, 2015.

It was moved and seconded that a flush registration sent to the office in 120 days or less will be $20 instead of $10 and Embryo Flush registration sent in after 120 days will be $50. (Previously, flushes were to be sent to the office in 90 or fewer days for $10 and over 90 days for $50).
Effective September 1, 2014.

It was moved to allow the unanimous All-Americans to be featured on the cover of the April Bulletin.

It was moved and seconded to move Tim Baumgartner, Jeff Brown and Perry Phend to the National judges list.

It was moved and seconded to accept the following individuals as judges for the 2015 shows:

Eastern National: Michael Heath, Angelo Pozatti, Joe Sparrow
Southwestern National: Rich Hill, David Jones, Lynn Lee
Southeastern National: Gerrit DeBruin, Mike Moyers, Laurie Winkelman
Western National: Mike Berry, Jake Hushon, Steve Wagner
Northwest National: Dean Dohle, Hank Van Exel, Ridley Wikkerink
Big E: Jeremy McDonald, Sherry Smith, Keith Topp
Alternates: Lynn Harbaugh, Chris Hill, Paul Trapp

It was moved and seconded to re-establish the Research Foundation Fund and to seek legal advice on setting it up as a tax deductible, tax free entity with an attorney that specializes in this work.
It was moved and seconded that BSCBA commit $2,000 per year for 10 years.

It was moved and seconded to authorize CDCB to publish the foreign young bulls in monthly genomic files beginning in July.

Interim Meetings:

It was moved and seconded that for a cow to be scored E92 or higher, she needs to be on official DHIA or DHIR test.

It was moved and seconded to accept the proposed changes to the classification system that will require a cow to have a new lactation between each of the following scores: E92, E93 and E94.

It was moved and seconded to accept genomic tests as verification of carrier/free status for SMA, SDM, Weavers and Spiderleg abnormalities.

It was moved and seconded to require outside entities (defined as A.I. companies, independents, breeders or any organization with the ability to nominate an animal for genomics) to test for Abnormalities using genomics and provide documentation to BSCBA showing the results of these tests. Effective Immediately.

It was moved and seconded that the scholarship and grant programs be separated. This would allow more participation in the grant program.
