The BEST Program
for A.I. Organizations:
The Brown Swiss Evaluation of Sires for Type (BEST) program supplements the regular classification program by making it possible for young sires to receive an earlier type proof. The BEST program is BSCBA's collaboration with A.I. organizations to sample more young sires by randomly classifying progeny and herdmates.
Any A.I. Organization that registers with NAAB may participate in the BEST program. The program costs $50 per bull registered and includes classification of young sire daughters at $21 per head if part of a regular tour with a minimum of $135 per herd with less than 7 daughters/herdmates classified. A list of registered daughters is provided as part of the program.
Herds unable to be included in an already planned group tour will be charged at the rate of $135 per diem plus all travel and living expenses of the classifier. This is in addition to the $21 per animal classified. The $135 per herd minimum will be waived.
Prior to regular tour BEST classification, BSCBA should be notified of daughters to be classified and provided correct registration numbers/identification. Young Sire daughters should be registered before they are classified in order to send correct information to CDCB for sire evaluations. Grade animals need to have a unique ID submitted.
